Laughter,
The sound I hear as her Father pushes her in a swing.
They're so happy together.
Happiness,
The look in his eyes as he walks his daughter
Down the aisle on her wedding day.
Sadness,
The feeling I feel as I watch these things
So eager to be able to do them with you again,
Or to be able to experience them for the first time.
You will never be able to push me on a swing,
You will never be able to walk me down the aisle,
But you're still there for me through everything
Like you always have been, and to me,
That is all I need. It's everything.
I love you Daddy.

Author's Comments

My Dad was dignosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1989. He has been in a wheelchair for the last 4-5 years. I wrote this poem because I miss being able to do things with him but I will always love him the way he is.
